Making new friends may seem daunting, especially in a totally new environment. However, there are various international-student clubs you can join and meet other people and foster new friendships!
Yonsei Global
This club hosts a lot of various programs on a first-come, first-serve basis. Such programs include Leisure Sports, Tasty Sinchon, One Shot, Global Angel, Korean Cooking Class, and so many more! These programs usually have an activity fee and a deposit fee, so be sure to prepare cash at their orientation! The deposit will be given back after the completion of the program.
I participated in the Company Tour program, visiting both MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation), a television company, and Amore Pacific, a Korean cosmetics and skincare company.
In addition, I participated in the Membership Training program, playing games and having fun at Hanokchon Shinseon Village. We played a relay race game, board games, and charades while getting to know one another, spending the night inside a traditional hanok, Korean house.
Yonsei Mentors Club
This club runs the Buddy Program in Yonsei, breaking groups of international students with Korean mentors into smaller cell groups. In those cell groups, the members would decide what they would like to do when they meet, making the events individualized to each group. We had a Buddy Night orientation with the entire club, ate at Sinchon restaurants, played at board game cafes, sang at a noraebang/karaoke, and had a great time!
Roze Global
If you want to meet other students outside of Yonsei University, this club is the one for you! Composing of international and Korean students from various universities, they host multiple meetups and hangouts to get to know each other all for good fun! During the spring semester, I joined them for three events: orientation at a chicken-beer restaurant, hang-out at a board game cafe, and Joker viewing at CGV movie theater.
