My friend, Andy, and I bought Klook tickets to SBS MTV "The Show" for Tuesday, July 3, 2018. This was a very unique experience to be able to see the behind-the-scenes of music shows.
Buying Tickets
Through Klook, these tickets cost around $66 and were held every Tuesday. If you plan to attend this event, be sure to book these tickets as early as possible as spots tend to fill fast. We bought these tickets at the beginning of June. When purchasing the tickets, you can change the type of currency you wish to pay; keep in mind that there may be international fees included when using your card. You shall receive a processing email immediately after you book the event and a confirmation email once the booking is set. Be sure to flag your confirmation email as it is your ticket to the event. Unfortunately, the setlist of artists is not released until the day of the show on the SBS MTV "The Show" Twitter, so it will be a surprise.
Prior "The Show"
The meeting location and time for "The Show" was at the SBS Prism Tower (82, Sangamsan-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul) located in Digital Media City at 5:30 pm. Andy and I arrived at 5:45 pm since we came directly from Juno Hair but were still allowed into the group. We met with the Klook representative, showed our confirmation email, and were given the guidelines of the event. One important rule is that you may not take pictures or videos inside the studio; they stressed that many times. The earlier you arrive, the closer you are seated towards the stage. At 6:00 pm, we stood in line according to our numbers received when checking-in and were given a complimentary "The Show" fan, perfect for the hot summer weather in July.
Set of "The Show"
After several minutes, we finally started moving up the stairs into the studio! Moving in lines, we sat down in the audience seats. It was a movie-theater type of seating built on a metal high rise. We sat quite high, being able to see the entire set perfectly. Above the seats, a microphone was hanging in order to catch the audience fan chants. In the front, the stage was set with large LED screens. Below the stage were the sliding camera and a roped section for standing fans. Behind them were the four main cameras that focus on the K-pop members. On the sides were two large metal rods that guided cameras for the wide view of the stage. There were some television screens located for the producers near the middle, so we were able to see what was being aired at that time.
Showing of "The Show"
For July 3, the lineup included artists like BTOB, Kim Dong Han, Momoland, KHAN, UNB, A.C.E., and Apink. The show itself was very entertaining yet surprising, showing what happens behind the camera. Fans went crazy for Kim Dong Han, yelling the cheer chants for his song. Apparently, it was his birthday as some of the fangirls were yelling "Happy Birthday" in Korean. Some performances were cut short during our showing, however, it continued to play on the broadcast using clips from a previous recording prior to this event. Some artists were not able to attend as well; Andy was sad to see that BTOB was unable to come to the studio. However, overall it was great to see the behind-the-scenes in what makes these amazing music show videos I always watch on YouTube. My favorite part was jamming to the songs. I really liked seeing KHAN live since they have a great debut song.
K.E.V.
This was a great experience to see at least once since it allows you to see the work behind the music shows. However, the price is quite high for artists that you may not know or attend. You can try to catch some groups by seeing when a certain K-pop group is promoting. So if you are an avid lover of K-pop, you should definitely attend for a chance to see some groups you know perform live or to discover new songs and artists.
