On July 29, Roze Global hosted a day hangout to the Iwha Mural Village and to Insadong with international students from various univeristies.
Iwha Mural Village
With my other Yonsei friends, we went onto the Roze Global tour; Roze Global is a union of Korean and international students dedicated to making new friends while exploring Korea. We all met at Iwha Mural Village. At the location, there are many artsy photo shoot areas with paintings on the walls and stairs. Some of us rented out Korean student uniforms at a local store. Around that area, there was also another local shop selling clothing and jewelry; I bought a pair of shirts on a summer sale for a total of 10,000 â‚©. We walked around, looking at these paintings and taking photos all around. Unfortunately, they didn't have the famous fish staircase painting since the neighborhood repaints these paintings every so often to repair it. The location is full of hills, so be sure to be ready to go on a mini hike.
Insadong
Afterwards, we took the bus to the Insadong, a street dedicated to traditional Korean culture. We explored the center of the street which was a small mall that sold all sorts of items. Several of us got 똥빵 (ddongbbang: poop bread) which came in red bean flavor or chocolate flavor. It costed 1,000 and 1,500 respectively. Then, we went up the four floors and walked inside some stores. Vendors were selling all types of things such as jewelry, souvenirs, and pots. At the top, there is the famous Poop Café that sells food and drinks inside a miniature toilet bowl. Then, we went to a bar to drink. Jun-hyung taught us about 소사 (sosa) which is a 50/50 mix of soju and Sprite/cider, which is very easy to drink. We also had seafood íŒŒì „ (pajeon: Korean pancake), and then ended the night with 노래방 (noraebang: song room/karaoke).
