On July 26, 2018 after classes, Andy and I met with friends at the YISS President's Fiesta and also saw Crush at a club called Soap.
After the Thursday's classes and dropping off our items back at the dorm, Andy and I headed back to Sinchon for a quick refreshing dessert from 설빙 (Sulbing) which serves 빙수 (bingsu: shaved ice) as well as a bubble tea from 공차 (Gong Cha) before we headed back to Yonsei University.
President's Fiesta
YISS held the President's Fiesta at the President's Residence on campus near the campus dorms. The place was very scenic and green, taking place at the backyard which is surrounded by a forest. Rows and rows of tables were set up with white tablecloths; a long row of food with grills were lined up behind those tables; a stage was located near the middle section. After a few introductions and speeches, it was finally time to eat dinner! They had a lot of different salads and sides. The main entrée was freshly grilled beef. After eating dinner, there were some performances from Yonsei students. The first one was the Yonsei Dance Team who covered EXO-CBX's "花요일 (Blooming Day)". Secondly, students K-pop dance group from one of the California universities performed to Blackpink's "DDU-DU DDU-DU". Third, a girl sang Taeyang's "눈,코,입 (EYES, NOSE, LIPS)" and combined it with an English version of the song! Afterward, a student rapped, another student spun light balls with ropes, and another dance team danced to a medley of Red Velvet songs. Lastly, the Taekwondo extracurricular class showed a series of moves that they learned throughout the six weeks. Then, everyone went onto their merry way.
Soap Seoul
Andy and I rested at the Yonsei Library until 8:30 pm when we caught the bus to Itaewon. We met with other Yonsei students heading to Soap Seoul since Crush would be promoting his new album there. When we got there at 9:00 pm, there was already long line that stretched and looped around the building where the club was located. Thankfully, we were allowed into the club with a entry fee of 20,000 ₩ and a free drink. We waited until around 1:00 pm when Crush came, performing his new singles as well as performing other popular hits. In addition, he also brought his entourage such as Zico, Dean, Hoody, and so many more! Unfortunately, I was not able to see most of them since my sight was blocked by all the phones in the air. However, the vibe was great, being able to see famous Korean hip-hop and R&B artists.
