"Riding Through History" | Korea Folk Village

On Friday, July 20, YISS hosted a one-day field trip to the Korea Folk Village located in Suwon, Korea.

Hwaseong Fortress

First, we headed to the Hwaseong Fortress and saw the cultural side of Korea with their unique building structures. Jomaris and I found stamp stations around the fortress, so we decided to decorate our brochure with all those different stamps. In addition, there was workers dressed in traditional wardrobe for a mini photo shoot opportunity.

Lunch

After exploring the fortress, we went to eat oxtail bone soup at a nearby restaurant. The broth was very savory; the meat was very tender. It was also served with a bowl of rice. We got to meet new people and enjoy the filling food.

Korea Folk Village

As a group, we did a small tour around village, heading toward the performance stage. We saw ancient hay houses as well as a silk-making process. At the stage, we saw a traditional Korean band performance. Afterward, we had free time, so a group of us headed toward the amusement park there. It was very empty with a scarce number riders in sight. We decided to get the all-rides wristband for 10,000 â‚©, so we basically rented the entire amusement park for less than 10 USD! We had unlimited rides to all the attractions with no wait time at all. It was a great and fun usage of our money!
