Andy and I went to Hongdae's busking street to see Sik-K's guerrilla performance for his new singles on Wednesday, July 11.
From Sik-K's Facebook page, I was notified about his upcoming guerrilla performance in Hongdae to promote his new singles "그래 그냥 내게 바로 (Skip And Kiss)" and "너가 좋아하길 (Up All Night)" off his album Youth.Wit.Purpose. Lots of Koreans and foreigners showed up to this free 30-minute concert, being very packed despite it being a Wednesday night. Andy and I headed there and arrived around 7:30 pm, walking around until we found a massive crowd of people in front of a stage on the busking street. Sik-K finally came onto the stage at 8:00 pm, hyping the crowd with his new singles. Continuing the streak, he performed his popular songs such as "Your Night" from BOYCOLD, "Ring Ring" from H.A.L.F, "iffy" the single, and "party (SHUT DOWN)" from H.A.L.F. To end the night, he replayed "Skip & Kiss" as his final remarks.
He was a great live performer, pumping the crowd with his energy. For the performance, Sik-K doesn't really have an amazing singing voice, but he definitely makes up for it with his hype personality. By the end of the first song, he was already sweating like crazy with all his jumping and moving around the stage. After the end of the performance, Sik-K went on top of a platform, wiped his sweat with a towel, and threw it into the crowd of screaming girls. Honestly, that was kind of nasty since they are literally treasuring his sweaty towel.
After the end of the performance, Andy and I walked around Hongdae and ended up eating 삼겹살 (samgyeopsal: grilled pork belly) and 육회 (yukhoe: seasoned raw beef). It was our first time eating 육회, and it was pretty cheap for around 9,000 ₩. It was located right on a corner on the busking street.
