On Saturday, July 21, Andy and I went to Jamsil Sports Complex for the annual Waterbomb Fesetival!

Andy and I bought tickets to Waterbomb Festival on Trazy a month before traveling to Korea, buying tickets to the Saturday event. We caught the subway to 종합운동장역 (Sports Complex Station), arriving around 3:15 pm to pick up our wristband and complementary towel. We headed inside and stored our items into the on-site bag storage for a small fee. When we headed inside the stadium, we saw BLACKPINK and Woo Do Hwan there to promote Sprite. Right after their short interview and talk, pH-1 immediately started his performance, so I ran over to the audience on the Blue side. pH-1 is my favorite upcoming rapper; he's from H1gher Music, a music company Jay Park started recently. In addition to pH-1, we saw artists like Sik-K, Woodie Gochild, Chung-Ha, Sunmi, the ever-so popular Jay Park, as well as many DJs. If you want to get great pictures and be close to the stage, you must be ready for hours of standing. By staying in the audience, we were able to squeeze our way to the front as people left during acts. This event was very wet, hence its name; we were literally soaked head to toe from all the water blasts from the stage. Afterward, we grabbed our items from the bag claim and changed our clothes. The changing room was several covered tents with no privacy, so you must be comfortable to strip in front of strangers. We headed out to eat food at 9:00 pm since we haven't eaten for around 6 hours. There was a restaurant near the Sports Complex that sold Korean street food; I got 오뎅 (odaeng: fish cake) while Andy got 순대 (soondae: Korean blood sausage) for cheap prices. Then, we headed back to DMCville.

This was such a great experience for its price around $63, being able to see and jam to several amazing artists. In order to secure your spot, be sure to purchase your ticket months in advance. Some YISS students were unable to buy tickets to the Saturday event because it was sold out, so they had to settle for Friday. When attending the event, wear swimwear and bring a change of clothes and a debit/credit card. On site, the debit/credit card would be used to charge when buying bag storage and food/drinks. Also, bring a waterproof phone case/pouch so that you can take pictures/videos during the event without worrying about damaging your phone/items. By thoroughly researching for summer festivals in Korea, Andy and I were able to attend this and other fun events!
